Working in the Lahti region

Today nearly 10 percent of all residents in Lahti have a native language other than Finnish or Swedish. There is still plenty of room for newcomers, whether you are a manual worker, an emerging talent or an experienced and highly educated professional.

Fast-track recruitment service for foreign-language speakers

The International Work Lahti (IWL) project is aimed at ensuring the swiftest possible employment of foreign-language speakers in the Lahti region. Funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the project is managed by the City of Lahti and operates under the International House Lahti service structure. The project’s staff supports the matching of job seekers and employers. The team includes individual coaches, a teacher supporting the development of your Finnish language skills, and corporate cooperation coordinators.

Comprehensive support for job-seeking

At the IWL service desk, we identify the skills of clients who speak a foreign language and guide them towards employment through individual coaching. Corporate coordinators visit companies, identify open positions, and assess the state of the job market. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, suitable job opportunities can be found for job seekers, and employers will be provided with skilled labour.
